What To Do With That Sound Editing Software
You can use any of the sound editing software that you already have or you can find some by using the links in the toolbox below.
In this tutorial we use the BarbaBatch program to effectively illustrate the process that you can use in any other program with relative ease.
Step 1) Download the free BarbaBatch demo/or pay for it and follow the installation instructions.
Step 2) By clicking on the "input" button you can import your CD quality (hopefully) soundfile into the sound editing program by clicking the "Add" button.
Step 3) Go to the correct folder on your computer to find your sound file and highlight it and click yet another "Add" button. In this window is much more also: you can see the current sample rate and length of the sound file as well as the capability to audition or play the file also. You should be here.
Step 4) Now clicking on the "conversion" button you can add a template or command a preset to simply edit the soundfile and convert its sample rate to 16 bit 22.5 kHz. Note the program has nine presets that you can use as examples of ways to utilize this type of tool. Many options in this affordable product are geared toward Internet use.
Step 5) The program is now asking you to "define new conversion". In this example follow what we have told the program to do: 1) Convert the file to another specific file type (in this case a .wav file ), 2) Convert sample rate to 22.5 kHz, 3) Number of bits to convert to (or bite rate) to 16 bits. Now click the "Add" button. After you get the hang of it, you can use some of the other options if need be or if you're just curious.
Step 6) Click the "output" button, choose your destination file folder and click the cute bow and musical arrow "start" button. Congrats! You have a smaller but still very good sounding sound file that is ready to import into the Beatnik Editor or Converter for further manipulating with compression.
